Lukesland is having a special opening on the VE Bank Holiday to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the British Red Cross. The Howell family, who have owned Lukesland since the 1930’s, have had a long association with the Red Cross. During WW2 the Billiard Room, now the tea room, was a collection point for Red Cross parcels and the current owners organise days out for groups of refugees and asylum seekers from Plymouth through the BRC Refugee Support Service. The 24 acre woodland garden is a delight for all ages, with magnificent spring-flowering plants and a children’s trail. There is a large car park and dogs are welcome in the garden on a lead
